Details:

Reinforcing the bonds between the individual and her village, Latanya D. Tigner, Muisi-kongo Malonga, and Maimouna Coulibaly present 3 different works in honor of the influences and traditions of Central Africa.

Finding strength and inspiration in the multi-layered stories of a branch of the Congolese family tree, Latanya D. Tigner combines contemporary technique with traditional Congolese movement to explore what it means to find oneself facing great loss. Accompanied by acapella vocals from Muisi-kongo Malonga, "Untitled" moves from solitude to community, isolation to strength, a reminder of our ability to move forward.

see. think. dance. + MoAD revive the artist salon to turn up the lights on DANCE.
Local choreographers present solo work with LIVE accompaniment from their favorite musicians.
Each evening wraps up with a discussion + reception to facilitate DIRECT artist/audience exchange.

Each salon highlights a different facet of movement within the AFRICAN aesthetic.
Dancers embody the GENERATIONS through Congolese + Coupé Décalé, Gospel + Jazz, Hip-Hop + Kwaito.
Inspired by the MUSIC, each dancer exemplifies the body as instrument, inviting the audience on a journey.
